You might be interested to know that when your battery gives up the ghost and unlocking your car reverts back to having to use that strange thing....a key, then the phone call to the local Mazda dealer could shock you, one guy on the Mazda forum was quoted £45 to change it!
However there is a easy and cheap way, see this info:
Do you have the fob with the flick out key like a pen knife? If so flick out the key and there is a small tab in the recess where the key was, push this down with a small screwdriver and the key section will come away from the main fob body. look in the exposed end of the main fob and you should see a small slot put the screwdriver blade into slot and gently twist the top should come of the body and expose the battery. Its a CR1620 cost 99 pence plus vat from my local electrical wholesaler Reassembly is a straight reversal Should not need reprogramming.

I have used this method to change two batteries, no problems. Batteries’ found on the net @ £1.22 each + postage. Any questions contact me! Glyn

Christmas I hear you say, Christmas! Its 24 degrees centigrade and the sun is beating down!!!

Paul and I were in Cuba last December so didn't get to join you for the Christmas meal at The Clock, but I understand it went down well. I have made enquiries and the Christmas Fayre menu this year is £14.99 for 3 courses. They have room for us, at the moment, in either the conservatory (which seats a maximum of 20) or we can have a function room if there are more than 35 or so on WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 15th A non-refundable deposit of £5 per person will be required.

So, what do you think? I haven't made even a provisional booking yet as I really wanted to get an idea of numbers, so post here asap please!
The Annual Owners Club Curborough Club Day will take place on 17th September which is the Friday before the National Rally at Chatsworth House.

This is a tremendously fun event, being relaxed and informal with heaps of encouragement and help for novices and experienced drivers alike. The short sprint track is both challenging and yet benign enough for the inexperienced.

This is very much a social day as much as driving and has become somewhat of a regular event. Spectators are more than welcome, in fact encouraged to come and watch.

This year sees a bit of a departure from the past in that due to the National Rally, Curborough is being held on the Friday rather than Saturday and the day will also be broken into two halves.

The afternoon “sprint” (there will be no official timing) will follow the traditional format of one car on track at once and operating a queuing system and will run till 5pm.

However as we have the track all day, in the morning we will provide “Welcome to Track” sessions via Mazda on Track, where novice drivers can come and drive a track prepared MX-5 and receive tuition on track driving. It’s an excellent introduction to motorsport and the 2008 Ladies HSA champion and club member Barbra Fogden started just there, with a session at Curborough.

The afternoon sessions will be £35

Welcome to Track sessions will be £60 and will include both theory and driving.

This event will be run independantly by Mazda on Track,

Further details can be found at - http://www.mazdaontrack.co.uk

Curborough Sprint Track http://www.curborough.co.uk is just off the A38, close to Lichfield, and is easily accessable from the M6 or M1,

Chatsworth, and the Friday night accommadation is approx 50 miles to the north, a 1 1/4 hour drive

The booking form can now be found at

http://www.mazdaontrack.co.uk/mx5-ow...-day-350-p.asp

The Chatsworth Committee are not in anyway involved with this event, all enquires and bookings are to be made directly with Mazda on Track

Hi,

After 7 great years, my beloved 93 1.8 Roadster is up for sale. Am really going to miss the go kart handling, the tinkering, the polishing, the pop up lights and quite simply it being the best, most fun car i have ever owned. Just driving it after a stressful day at work, my worries disappeared, what other car can do that?..........There will be Much Sadness when it goes.........
HOWEVER.....
There is also much happiness, on Saturday i ordered a new MK3.5 2.0SE Roadster Coupe in Aluminium Silver!!:D At the age of 48, i like a kid at christmas (or dog with two dicks!) and am counting off the days to when i pick it up.
As this is car is miles differant from my lowered MK1, and the suspension will be somewhat softer, Nikki will be happier to travel in it and as such i am looking forward to joining you all on some runs.
Anyway, so excited now I am off to read the Mazda Brochure....again!

See Ya

We are offering accomodation and room for at least 3 tents in the garden. We have two ulterior motives, one is to help us have a fun time with our massive garden end of year final cleaning/trimming/cutting push, the other is to help a dear friend of ours, Jodie Faulkener. Jodie's motive will be explained more at the time. We can hopefully accomodate about 10 in the house and we have room for about 3 tents in our garden. This offer is on a first come, first accomodated basis. Please let us know if you require indoor or outdoor accomodation. As a thank-you, Saturday evening will be either a chilli con carne or a spaghetti bolognaisse meal, Sunday will be a full English breakfast. We have two tents if you do not want to bring your own, we have a three man and also a large nine man, which we can erect after that area is clean, this won't take long. We will also have a large typical English garden bonfire at the end of Saturday. All we ask is that you bring some old gardening clothes, or any gardening implements you can to help and also your own booze. This could turn out to be a good fun day. This event is scheduled to take place on September 18/19. Please let us know if you are interested via a Private Message. I post a message if and when we have a full quota.

We have full Wi-Fi access, a working 1976 Seeburg jukebox (although the sound can be a bit tempremental), Wi and indoor toilet, for your amusement.

The only problem we have is a lack of parking near the house, as Ian and Emma (compact90) will testify.

Regards Kerry & Martin

P.S The next one will be a house decorating party. My God we need it, lol.
